UPS World Ship Setup and MSAS Connection
Initial Setup – Select Stand Alone Workstation (This was originally written by someone on 9/8/2008, but has been updated by Logan on 4/10/2024 to include the very crucial missing instructions of how to make the MSAS connection for World Ship. Saved you the headache😊, but please read the UPS config notes to see how it was casually left out. Good times good times)
Config will begin after reboot.

Logan’s instructions for creating the MSAS connection if MSAS import option isn’t available in World Ship.
- Go to Run > Enter in odbcad32.exe and search > OBDC Data Source Administrator window should open
- If not an admin go to file explorer C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and locate odbcad32 file, and run it as administrator. This will get you to the same window as above.
- You will need to setup the User DSN and System DSN same process for both
- Click Add > Select SQL Server and it will begin the setup process
- Window 1 > Name: MSAS > Description: MSAS > Server: cobarsql04 (or whatever your SQL server is by the time you have to do this) > Next
- Window 2 > Select “With SQL Server Auth…” option > Select “Connect to SQL Server..” > Login ID: admin > Password: Leave blank > Next
- Window 3 > Select and Change default database to MSAS ( If it isn’t there then something is new and not the same as it was) > Make sure both “Use ANSI..” options are checked > Next
- Window 4 > Make sure “Perform translation for character data” is checked > Finish
- Run the test to confirm and hit okay
- Repeat the above on either User DNS or System DNS whichever you didn’t do first
- Go back to the above instructions to setup on World Ship 😊
